For my WiST Self-Created fellowship project, I will be working with Dr. Kristine Snyder at Stryd, the first company to build a sensor tool for runners to estimate real-time effort as represented by scaled metabolic power (in watts). My goal is to collect and analyze female running data in order to provide useful feedback for long-term running health and performance by using biomechanical and physiological variables. I will be combining machine learning techniques with fundamental physics to efficiently process data and build better models of the system; C will be used for all of the sensor’s embedded systems and MATLAB will be used for offline processing.
